Instagram does not show you the order in which someone followed accounts. Their following list looks random, and there is no notification when a profile you care about follows someone new. The Ick fixes that: it takes a snapshot of a public profile's following list, checks it again every hour, and shows you exactly which accounts were added, in the order they were added.
What you can see
For every public profile you track, The Ick shows the most recent accounts they followed, the most recent accounts that followed them, unfollows in both directions, follower and following count changes over time, and a timeline you can scroll back through. Recent follows can also be broken down by gender so you can spot patterns at a glance.
Why the following list looks random on Instagram
Instagram sorts other people's following lists by relevance, not by date. Only your own profile offers a date-followed sort. That is why scrolling through someone's list tells you very little about what they did this week. A tracker compares the list at two points in time, which is the only reliable way to find recent follows on a profile that is not yours.
Anonymous and login-free
The Ick never asks for your Instagram password and never touches your account. It only reads data that is already public, so the person you track is not notified and cannot see that anyone is watching. Private accounts cannot be tracked, because their lists are not public.
How it works
- 1
Search a username
Enter any public Instagram username in the box above. You will see a quick analysis of the profile and its recent follows.
- 2
Start tracking
Subscribe to keep the profile under watch. You can track up to 5 profiles at the same time, on the web or in the Android app.
- 3
Get notified
Every hour The Ick checks for changes. When there is a new follow or unfollow, you get a push notification and the change lands in your feed.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I see who someone recently followed on Instagram for free?
- You can search any public username on theick.io and see an initial analysis for free. Ongoing hourly tracking and notifications require a subscription, which starts at 8.99 USD per week or 34.99 USD per year in the US and less in many other countries.
- Does the person know I am tracking them?
- No. The Ick reads only public data and never interacts with the profile, so there is no notification, no profile view and no trace on their side.
- How fast are new follows detected?
- Each tracked profile is checked every hour. A new follow is normally detected within an hour of it happening and you are notified right away.
- Does it work on private accounts?
- No. Private accounts hide their follower and following lists, and no legitimate tool can see them. The Ick tells you when a profile is private before you subscribe.
- Is there an iPhone app?
- The Ick is available as an Android app on Google Play and as a web app at theick.io that works in Safari on iPhone. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience with notifications.
